It never fails, I’m in the grocery store and there stands, a tall rack of fresh, beautiful bananas… let’s not forget they are on sale— tempting.

So, as always, I roll on over to the rack, grab a few pounds of bananas, and in my mind, declare the upcoming week, “Banana Week.” I’m pretty sure that some of you can relate.

BROWN BANANAS ARE USEFUL

Typically, when I get home, I lay out my banana spread (visible in baskets) on my kitchen, excited for the week. But for some reason, throughout the week, the bananas are overlooked.

When I get the urge for something sweet, I look up and there they sit on the kitchen table—a bunch of brown bananas. Now, if it weren’t for the easy recipes which call for ripe bananas, I probably would have quit making the same mistake over and over again, overstocking.

I’m pretty sure that I’m not alone, and you’ve probably looked at a brown, spotted banana, and thought to yourself…” Yeah, this is bad; let’s toss it.” Well, stop throwing away your brown bananas and put those bad boys to use.

BANANAS ARE NATURAL SWEETENERS

So, put that natural sugar to good use. Go crazy and make a banana-pineapple smoothie. It’s simple to make and perfect for breakfast or any meal replacement.

Pull out the blender, and give it a try!

Go Bananas!

You will need:

  • ripe bananas
  • almond milk or soy milk
  • frozen cubed pineapples
  • chia seeds
  • crushed ice

Prepare, by blending all your ingredients, until smooth. Make sure you blend evenly, so all ingredients are combined.
Place fresh pineapples in a glass; pour the smoothie over the top and enjoy!
